One of my favorite Summer drink is Horchata. Since I have been enjoying this Quarantine Life, I been craving it for four months. Instead of buying it, I decided to take on the challenge, THANKFUL TO MY INSTAGRAM FOLLOWERS WHO VOTED and make it from scratch!⁣

Have you ever made Horchata from scratch?⁣

Well, it’s simple and cheap to make. All you need is long grain rice, cinnamon sticks, ground cinnamon, white sugar, vanilla extra, water, and milk. In addition, to save money, you can find all the ingredients at a Dollar Store near you! ⁣

Horchata (pronounced or-CHAH-tah) is a popular Mexican drink that is often described as a sweet rice milk beverage. In addition, it is served in many Mexican restaurants and there’s an important balance to the creamy rice and cinnamon flavors.⁣

The Best Mexican Horchata

Directions:⁣

1.  Blend. Blend the rice, water, and cinnamon sticks until the rice and cinnamon sticks are roughly ground. Roughly 2 minutes. Add the remaining water and blend again for same time.⁣
2. Let Sit.  Pour the contents into a pitcher or container with a fitted lid and place on your countertop overnight (or for at least 8 hours).⁣
3. Strain. Pour the rice mixture into a fine mesh strainer, into a pitcher and discard the rice.⁣
4.  Add.  Stir in the milk, vanilla, cinnamon, and sugar (to your preference). Chill until ready to serve. Stir well before serving.⁣

SERVE OVER ICE. & ENJOY!
